It was very funny and that’s a comedians job.

Re: Jimmy Carr
That's the thing though, it just wasn't funny in the least

Re: Jimmy Carr
Yeah. What an absolute cunt!

How very dare a professional comedian not run his work past YOU for personal endorsement and approval before releasing it into the public domain.

Re: Jimmy Carr
So because you didn’t find it funny that’s it then?

When you go and see Jimmy Carr you know what to expect and that’s why he sells out large venues.

Just the usual twitter Nazis losing their shit but the majority of the people couldn’t give a fuck.

Re: Jimmy Carr
It wasn't run past me though was it Oxnore, it's the BBC that reported it.

So let's turn it around and swap the Gypsies/ Sinti for the Jews, would that have been "funny"?

What actually was the joke?

First rule of comedy...be funny

Re: Jimmy Carr
Nobody thinks that he was highlighting how there are some ethnic minorities that it is still widely discriminated against.

It's just a shocking way of saying, 'some of my best friends are black but I don't want that pikey camp in my village'.

Re: Jimmy Carr
I think Jimmy Carr can be very funny.

But sometimes, he can be very lazy (and in this case offensive) and say something inappropriate or controversial ( without humour) and think it's funny.

We can all do that kind of shit joke privately amongst ourselves down the pub and we all laugh nervously because you know you shouldn't be laughing. But that doesn't work if you're on stage and you're a famous comedian.

I remember watching him on Netflix, once, and the whole show was just him saying rude stuff as if he was a 14 year old who had just learnt some new swear words. It was funny for the first couple of minutes, but then became very boring.

Saw the BBC item on the news and decided to watch the show.

Is very funny

Re: Jimmy Carr
Its a joke told in a comedy special at venue where a comedy night was happening.

If you have a problem with the joke, you're an idiot.

Re: Jimmy Carr
There should be no boundaries when it comes to comedy, everything should be a valid 'target'

Why oh why do some people listen to/watch/read stuff they know is going to offend them,?

twoleftfeet 8:58 Sat Feb 5
Re: Jimmy Carr
The funny thing was that he gave the audience a warning that he was going to say things that some might be offended by.

When you buy a ticket to watch Jimmy Carr you know he is going to offend and the same thing applies to his Netflix gig. Why would you watch it if you are triggered by absolutely everything?

If you don’t like his style then watch people like Nish Kumar or Josh Widdicombe who never say anything controversial but aren’t very funny.

I fully expect Carr to have to apologise and lose his C4 show, it’s the way this country works now.

Re: Jimmy Carr
Carr joked about the horror of “six million Jewish lives being lost” before suggesting the deaths of thousands of Gypsies at the hands of the Nazis had been one of “the positives” of the Holocaust.

I guess that's my point, if you're going to make a joke about something controversial, then make it funny

I just don't see anything remotely funny in that at all

I take it you were offended by Till Death Us Do Part. It's exactly the same technique.

Twoleftfeet,

I wasn't triggered by either.

I know that Jimmy Carr can be better, that's all.
